The AFPM Safety Awards recognizes AFPM member company sites and their contractors that have attained above average safety performance in the domestic refining and petrochemical industries.

The highest honor, the Distinguished Safety Award (DSA) recognizes the best-of-the-best in industry that have demonstrated exemplary, long-term sustainable safety performance, program innovation, and leadership. The second highest honor, the Elite Platinum Award recognizes the top sites with outstanding safety performance, program innovation and safety leadership that received a DSA interview. The Elite Gold Award recognizes facilities with safety performances in the top five percent of industry and that have demonstrated superior and consistent safety performance, program innovation, and leadership. The Elite Silver Award recognizes facilities with safety performances in the top ten percent of industry for the application year and have demonstrated excellent program innovation and leadership over time.
