Electrical engineers specialize in technology related to electricity generation, delivery and use. They are not only a valuable asset to fuel and petrochemical manufacturers, but they are also important for utility and power providers all over the world. Similar to other forms of engineering, electrical engineers perform maintenance, however, electrical engineering is unique because it focuses on electronics, circuits, and appliances that deliver electricity.

Qualifications: Besides curiosity and strong math skills, electrical engineers are comfortable using computers and electrical instruments. They are strong communicators and have a positive attitude. Electrical engineers work on a team or with customers to identify and solve problems in a systematic way.

Education: Employers require entry-level engineers to have a 4-year degree in engineering or the equivalent. Some employers may require an advanced degree.
