WASHINGTON, D.C. – AFPM President and CEO Chet Thompson released the following statement on the rioting that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
"As an American, a father and a native Washingtonian, I am both outraged and saddened by the riots, violence and the storming of the U.S. Capitol we witnessed yesterday. The inciting of violence is unacceptable and unworthy of anyone, much less the President of the United States. AFPM stands with our democracy, our Constitution, for the orderly transition of power, civility, law and order, and the brave men and women who once again put their lives on the line to protect our way of life. As we’ve made clear since November 7, AFPM expects an orderly transition of power to President-Elect Biden. It is time our nation moves forward in search of common ground and sensible solutions to our biggest problems, knowing we will disagree at times but must always remain respectful of each other."
