WASHINGTON, D.C. — American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) President and CEO Chet Thompson issued the following statement today in response to the Trump administration’s decision to issue a 60-day waiver of the Jones Act:
“AFPM welcomes this action and the additional flexibility it will provide around delivering critical crude oil, refined products, and petrochemicals to U.S. manufacturing facilities and consumers. As a next and even more impactful step, the Trump administration should take RFS reallocation off the table entirely and set a more rational fuel mandate. Those two RFS actions would cut fuel costs for consumers by billions of dollars over the next two years, without resulting in any less biofuel blending. There’s no excuse to leave those cost-saving options on the table.”
The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) is the leading trade association representing the makers of the fuels that keep us moving, the petrochemicals that are the essential building blocks for modern life, and the midstream companies that get our feedstocks and products where they need to go. We make the products that make life better, safer and more sustainable — we make progress.
