WASHINGTON, D.C. — American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) President and CEO Chet Thompson issued the following statement on H.R. 3898, the Promoting Efficient Review for Modern Infrastructure Today (PERMIT) Act, up for consideration this week in the House of Representatives:
“For Americans to be able to reap the benefits of affordable liquid fuels and petrochemicals, they first need to be able to access those products. And for much of the country, access depends on the existence of safe, expansive pipeline networks carrying crude oil feedstocks, NGLs and refined products from upstream production centers to refineries and petrochemical facilities and onto consumers.
“It’s only fitting for us—the world’s energy superpower and number one producer of liquid fuels, refined products, crude oil and natural gas—to also have the world’s most advanced energy infrastructure, and that requires efficient federal permitting. The PERMIT Act is long overdue and will help modernize America’s liquid energy pipeline system, ensuring more of our country can benefit from connectivity to American-made fuels and, simultaneously, that our water supplies and water quality remain protected. AFPM urges support for this bill package and we offer our tremendous thanks to the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee for bringing it to the finish line.”
