WASHINGTON, D.C. – Statement from Chet Thompson, President and CEO of the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), in response to the letter sent by 21 senators to Acting Administrator Wheeler of the Environmental Protection Agency, applauding the abandonment of a proposal to reallocate Renewable Fuel Standard compliance obligations from small refineries that received hardship relief to other refineries and fuel importers:

“Retroactive reallocation of small refineries’ RFS obligations is not simply poor policy — its illegal. U.S. refiners provide thousands of high-paying manufacturing jobs that are put at risk by costly, unreasonable RFS compliance requirements. AFPM appreciates the leadership of Sen. Inhofe and 20 other Senators in opposing this fundamentally flawed idea and promoting sound, lawful energy policy.”
