Two use cases of DMC3 deep learning features are presented related to NGL APC. The first use case is a deep learning inferential developed using data from HYSYS simulations. The resulting .RNN model from DMC3 effectively represents a HYSYS model to predict a floating operating limit. Aspen IQ is used for online deployment. The second application is the use of DMC3 as a nonlinear optimizer for the Depropanizer. DMC3 Deep Learning models from plant data are used as alternatives to first-principle nonlinear optimization models. Nonlinear CVs, along with Deep Learning models, are used to formulate objective functions and provide interior optimization targets. The nonlinear trade-off between downgrade and throughput is optimized within DMC3.
