Washington, D.C. – AFPM launches seven-figure campaign thanking Democrat champions, warning that reconciliation taxes could lead to higher prices on gas and consumer goods, threaten jobs and undermine U.S. energy security.

Right now, members of Congress are debating a series of taxes as part of the multi-trillion-dollar reconciliation package that could make the crude oil that runs through U.S. refineries more expensive.

The idea of an environmentalist working in the refining and petrochemical industries seems like the ultimate paradox to some.

Vehicle efficiency is not a partisan issue. Every driver wants cleaner, more efficient cars and trucks. They also want them to be affordable, safe and family friendly. Fuel-powered internal combustion engine vehicles offer a range of options that satisfy these criteria, and they’re getting better every year.

It’s an often-overlooked fact that pipelines are the safest way to transport crude oil, natural gas liquids, petrochemicals and refined products on land.

One key component called for in nearly every recipe for clean, low-sulfur gasoline is alkylate. Alkylate is high in octane, low in sulfur and has zero aromatics which all help to lower vehicle emissions and tailpipe pollution.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  AFPM supports the drive to make the transportation fleet more efficient and sees our industries as integral in that process. CAFE standards must be achievable, affordable for drivers, reflective of consumer preferences, and consistent across the United States.
