AFPM is honored to have Fred Burton start the conference with his great insight on current security threats and the tense geopolitical world situation. Fred Burton is a former police officer, special agent and New York Times best-selling author. He's served on the front lines of high-profile investigations like the hunt for and arrest of Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind behind the first World Trade Center bombing and many other high profile cases.
Burton also consults with Fortune 500 companies on security developments and how to keep their personnel and business safe as the Executive Director of the Ontic Center for Protective Intelligence. Burton was selected by Security Magazine as one of the Most Influential People in Security in 2021.

Luncheon: Ukrainian Ripples: Strategic Changes Across the World
AFPM is very honored to have the President, American Academy of Diplomacy, formerly a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Ronald E. Neumann speak to our audience on recent geopolitical events. Ambassador Neumann served three times as Ambassador; to Algeria, Bahrain and finally to Afghanistan from July 2005 to April 2007. Before Afghanistan, Mr. Neumann, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, served in Baghdad from February 2004 with the Coalition Provisional Authority and then as Embassy Baghdad’s liaison with the Multinational Command, where he was deeply involved in coordinating the political part of military actions.
He has returned to Afghanistan repeatedly and is the author of a number of monographs, articles, and editorials. His writings have focused most heavily on Afghanistan, stabilization, and Bahrain. At the Academy he has focused particularly on efforts to maintain adequate State and USAID budgets and staffing and upgrade professional formation to enable these institutions to fulfill their responsibilities.
