The Communications Coordinator will provide comprehensive support to the AFPM Communications team, with a focus on AFPM’s digital channels. The successful candidate will have a degree in a related field, experience with digital engagement and advertising, and strong writing and editing skills. This position is a great opportunity for someone new to the communications field to gain important skills in a dynamic and challenging work environment and to gain experience in advocacy communications.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Digital Manager and will work closely with others in the department.


  • Write and post content for AFPM's social media channels
  • Develop content for and build digital advertising campaigns
  • Help identify and implement performance improvements across AFPM's digital channels
  • Support digital strategy development
  • Proof and post content to AFPM's websites
  • Research, compile, and analyze communications metrics and create reports
  • Produce a daily news clipping communication for member companies
  • Perform media monitoring on an ongoing basis and for specific issues as assigned
  • Assist in media relations activities including list building, pitching and tracking coverage
  • Distribute press releases and press materials
  • Work with the Meetings department on conference press registration and other activities
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Vice President and Communications team broadly
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience; demonstrated interest in the energy industry is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
  • Experience developing social media content
  • Experience with HTML and CSS a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with AP Style preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter, highly motivated
  • Ability to multi-task
