Idaho

Current Regulations: Gasoline and diesel fuel shall meet the latest ASTM quality standards; see Idaho Statutes Title 37, Chapter 25.

Legislature: S 1004, introduced in January 2005, would require at least 10 vol% agriculturally derived denatured ethanol in all gasoline, effective April 1, 2010.

Introduced in January 2006, S 1267 would require that all gasoline contain 9.2 - 10.0 vol% agriculturally derived denatured ethanol at the beginning of the next fiscal quarter after the Director of the ID Department of Agriculture certifies that there is annual capacity in ID (or within 5 miles of the ID border that uses Idaho grown feedstock) of at least 30 million gallons of ethanol. S 1364, introduced in February 2006, is very similar to S 1267; S 1364 passed the Senate on 2/23/06. Introduced in February 2006, S 1393 would require at least 2 vol% biodiesel in all diesel effective at least 30 days after the Director of the Idaho Department of Agriculture certifies that there is annual capacity in Idaho to produce 4 million gallons of biodiesel and at least 18 months have elapsed since a federal action reduced the price of at least 2 vol % biodiesel by at least 2 cents/gallon.
